Enrolment in the PhD Programme in Zoology and Hydrobiology
Preferably a person, who holds a Master's degree in biology or some other equivalent qualification (or preparing to defend MSc thesis quite soon) and who wishes to join the PhD Programme in Zoology and Hydrobiology at the University of Tartu, establishes contact with the Head of the Department of Zoology or directly with some other leading scientist of the department. The applicant’s CV, certificate of the academic degree, copy of the MSc thesis and other relevant documents should be made available to the contact person.
If a science leader of the department (potential supervisor) owns vacancy at a certain PhD project and is interested in the candidate, the candidate can pass a competition. In the case of success, s/he can join the PhD programme since September. Please note that all these procedures and various formalities take time and there are only limited periods of competition in each year, so it is recommendable for a potential candidate to establish contacts as soon as possible, preferably at the beginning of the year.
The candidate should also take into consideration that the admission and matriculation processes are accompanied by various formalities and deadlines. Please contact our Specialist on Academic Affairs for every kind of advice, including arrangement of living in Tartu.
For the admission rules and procedures please see also Doctoral Studies in the University of Tartu and the PRINCIPLES FOR ENROLLING PHD STUDENTS IN THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.
