PhD study at the Department of Zoology
At the Department of Zoology, it is possible to acquire scientific degree Doctor philosophiae (PhD) in two different specialities:
- zoology and ecology
- hydrobiology and fisheries
PhD study lasts 4 years. During this time, besides conducting scientific research and writing PhD thesis, a PhD student also needs to attend seminars, make presentations, read textbooks, participate in teaching and supervising undergraduates, and pass several special PhD disciplines. The progression of the study will be evaluated once per year by the evaluation committee.
To become eligible to submit the thesis to be defended, a PhD student must have at least three scientific papers published or accepted in peer-reviewed international journals, which correspond to the chosen speciality. The PhD student must be the first author in at least one of such papers.
